A cloudy day...

Reba getting her morning ‘pets’!!! She is such a good girl! She likes it outside with me in the morning as it’s nice and quiet! Reba gets very freaked out by lots of noises.

She hears the garbage truck... uh oh!

Running back to me as the garbage truck made a big clunk.

Reba has been a bit more skittish after the busy weekend. There was a lot of holiday noise and the fireworks by our house were loud. So she is dragging a leash just for anytime I need to guide her. I simply pick up the leash and she follows!

Here she is wagging her tail! Happy to be back inside!!!

Time to rest... mom is heading to work!

See ya later!!! Be good, Reebs!!!

It’s Saturday!

Hey there matey... it’s Reba here!

Is that my foster mom taking another pic of me? She is just crazy about taking pics of me!! She says I’m so photogenic ... I hope that’s a good thing!

Today f.mom vacuumed the whole house and I surprised her by not being afraid of the vacuum… in fact, I followed her all over the house! I really like being close to my mom!

When vacuuming, foster mom found this funny pirate skeleton bandanna and tied it around my neck because she says I’m such a tuffy-girl and can pull off the pirate look! Well, I don’t know about pirates but I do like dressing up and love all the attention so I’m happy to wear the bandana!

I love Saturdays because it’s so nice having everyone home! I soak in all the spoiling!!!  I also like dreaming of finding treasure just like a real pirate! I’d open up the chest and there would be my family all ready to love me fur-ever!

Back and Forth!

As of now, and things do change, this is Reba’s eating style! Take a nibble ... walk to the rug and chew chew chew. Repeat!
I’m happy she eats now! It’s not much at a time... she is dainty.
Oh and big news... HOUSETRAINED! Not one accident ever inside! Yay!!

Peanuts!

I suppose it’s not a big deal for most dogs to eat something from your hand... BUT when working with a fearful dog everything is big! I have offered Reba peanuts before and she would not take them. Well, she now trusts me enough to take them and eat them. Another step forward!

Happy Day 7!!!

Happy Week-aversary! Reba has been doing greeeeeat! Of course she has a ways to go but definitely less scared then when she arrived! I am so proud of her accomplishments.

If you are looking for a very sweet dog then here she is!!! 🌸🌼🌸

Day 6 smiles! 😁

Monday and Reba is so happy.

She complained when I left for work today (I heard her start as I locked the door) and the puppy pen was pushed around. So she is totally getting attached. I’m going to get out my own dog crate for tomorrow. It’s a nice black wire one and Reba is ready now for this!

She loves her walks and is starting to act more normal. Awesome!!! Week two should be FUN!!! 🀣

Happy mom’s day!!!

Day 5:

A Reba look alike mom’s day card from hubby! Haha... so cute!!!

Prancy paws while walking!

Trotting out front like a brave girl!!!

Enjoying tummy rubs! Asti watching and maybe feeling a wee bit jealous!!! Lol

Tired out after the walk. Cozy blankie time!!! 🐢

Today Reba met my sons and a friend of my husband and myself. She hid under the table in a corner! As soon as they left out she came. So she needs to know you before she trusts you. That’s ok!!! She’s doing so much better. She wagged her tail at me today too. (Video of tail wag on Foster Dog Love Facebook page) keep trying Rebie!!!

Day 4 pictures:

After our morning walk we came in and I sat on the couch with Reba to give her attention and petting. As I stroke her head she relaxes and falls asleep. Reba loves to have company and she enjoys her massages!

Late afternoon...

I had to be gone all day for work so a walk was a must!

Hello!!!!!! Look ^^ who merged into the pack!!! This girl!!! πŸŽ€ Whooo hoooo!!!

A little ‘toes in the grass’ rest time by our creek!  #sunnyday

Porch Sitting:

On my lap! πŸ’“

Oh so sweeeeet! 🌸

I see birdies.... and buns! πŸ•ŠπŸ‡

Day 4 Walking Video

It’s day 4 and Reba went potty right away on her tie out! So, that hurdle has been crossed. She did not eat much yesterday so maybe that is why no πŸ’© yet?!?
So off of that subject...
Here we are on another walk. I have both my dogs and she has moved up from behind me to almost at my side. She is not quite there yet but getting closer!!! Good progress! Usually with fearful dogs I will see forward and backward gains/losses. So far all forward with Reba! Day by Day :)!!!

Day 3: Cozy Cuddles!

Today has been an awesome progress day for Reba!

Our little timid red head has decided that the couch is a much nicer spot to "dwell" (by dwell I mean she is parked on the couch all day!) than her puppy cage and she finally went potty outside too! "Yay and Yay!"

It’s so cold and nasty outside (brrr) but Reba doesn’t care ... she thinks she has found a ‘little bit of heaven’ snuggled in her fleece blanket!

She is so easy to love!!! πŸ’œ

Potty time!

Miss R on her potty tie out with me watching out the window! She did go potty a second time!!! But still no πŸ’©! Lol!

Day 2 Walking Video

Here is Reba (still day 2) walking on leash (2 leashes to be exact-- she is a flight risk) Reba trails behind so this video isn’t the best! (I had to hold the phone backwards!) It will be nice to look back on this as she progresses... and she will! 😊 She wants to trust but her fears are holding her back. Time and patience! Keep cheering on this cutie pup!!

Day 2... she eats!

What’s for breakfast?

Last night around 2:30 am little Missy Reba got lonely in her bed in the kitchen and found her voice and started to whine. So I got up and took her outside thinking maybe now she will go potty. (Btw, nothing like long wet grass against your ankles to make you think... whyyyyyy. Ha!) Still no potty! So we went to bed. I carried her upstairs and she snuggled into the crook of my arm, head on my shoulder till morning. We both were tired!!!

Bright and early we woke up and took a slow stroll around the block. She follows behind me like Mary’s little lamb. Still no potty success. Sigh!

We came back in and I mixed some canned food into her kibble and she ate the canned but left the dry. Is that like only eating the frosting??? At least she ate something! Yay! Every day a little progress! #foodsuccess

Later on...

On a walk!

Miss Reba peeking from behind me.

Watching TV with me!

That. Face.

LOVE!

Day One

The little Red head had a quiet night. In fact she does not make a sound! Awwwwe!

I decided to take away Reba’s crate because she would stay inside and not come out. I didn’t like pulling her out and reaching in because it seemed scary to her. She has a puppy pen and a cozy dog bed as her safe place in the kitchen. The door is open so she can come out whenever she wants to.

So far she has not eaten her dog food but did drink some water. She also did eat a little sausage. No potties yet and we keep trying outside.

Since she is scared she runs to corners and darts around in the house but that will get better. She mostly just sits in her bed watching. If you are looking for a dog who will transform before your eyes this girl will be for you. I adore dogs like her. They just need patience, time and lots of love! A dog friend is always nice too as long as the resident dog is calm and would be a good mentor. :)

One of our potty outings... Reba jumps into the garden box. Mudddy paws. Nice.

This girl loves a great couch nap! So cute! Nighty night, Reba! #endofdayzzzzs

Reba, the little Red Furred Girl

This little dog pictured here sitting on a couch with her chin resting on a pillow may look like any dog in many a photo but it’s NOT the case. Reba has waited a very long time to enjoy this pillow!

Her story: A couple who lived in the woods of Alabama had kind hearts for the many stray, lost, sick or abandoned dogs that wandered onto their property. So they did what they thought best. They spayed the females and gave Rabies shots to them all but then chained them up to make-shift dog shelters around the yard and that’s where they stayed put. I don’t know how long Reba was on a chain. (We do not like this practice of chaining dogs of course but this is what the couple did to ‘help’)  The man sadly got sick and died very suddenly. The wife lost her home and property and the dogs were left chained up with a person coming once a day to give food and water. That’s when the rescue truly started!

A wonderful man named Sid and his wife were called and they organized the rescue. Fluffy Dog got Johnson, Tammy and my foster Reba and the other dogs went to other rescues. So Reba is now up north in WI. She has had her life, as she knew it, changed from living outside to sitting next to me on the couch. Her little head on that pillow must be spinning! We are so happy she is here :).

Please enjoy a few more photos and follow Reba’s journey as she learns to live in a house. She will be here with me until she finds her family! I just love this cutie! She is so gentle and sweet 🌸!
