Always company ❤️

One of the gifts of having a dog is you are never alone. I’m at the kitchen table and my sweet Toby is at my feet underneath. Asti too.

Toby is fun to play with when he’s in play mode. 

Toby loves playing tuggies and fetch in the house. 

Remember to take him out after play to potty.

After eating, sleeping and ‘playing’. Also after being home a while.

Some more info: Toby is fine with noises. Yay!!! Lawn mowers, vacuums, drills (like electric ones) and all such stuff that make noise. He is chill about it all! 

Toby is most times very good with my husband. Once in a while he shows he’s still a little bit nervous… Like today he kept scooting away when John was trying to put on his leash. Mom to the rescue!!! 😉 I don’t know why but almost 99% of rescue dogs (or maybe dogs in general) I’m not sure, like women over men. There are exceptions, of course!! I’m sure there are articles written on "why" and I won’t even try to figure it out but most rescue dogs that I have had are better with me then with my husband. So anyone that is adopting Toby do not be offended if he seems to side with the lady of the house… that’s just how it is. Regardless, it takes lots of time for rescues to get comfy. So be patient. 

Good news is Toby is starting to not sleep under the bed all of the time… he still goes under the bed but once in a while he is laying in different areas of the room when I wake up! I have a blanket in one corner he uses...and he has access to a little bed. One day I woke up and he was flipped on his back legs in the air… that was a ‘warm night’ I think he was airing out ha ha!!! 

Toby is warming up more every day. I didn’t crate him when I went to work and all was fine when I came home. EXCELLENT!!! Toby is not a super snuggly boy… he might grow to be one but right now he is not one that needs to be in your lap all the time. That’s actually kinda nice!! 

Crazy puppy Saturday!

Why 3 dogs on the stairs looking forlorn?? 

Because I have 4 puppies over and I’m taking their pics for Fluffy Dog. One of the pups is ‘not happy’ with my 3 and barks at them...so I shooed mine upstairs. I came around the corner and here they sit. Ha!! All waiting for mom to send those puppies back home!!! Toby at the top!!! So cute!

Toby did great with the puppies. No barking. 

I think he is actually a Llasa Apso mix. They are great watch dogs and Toby is that. He will bark at people who come into the home. I just tell him to stop and he listens. Unlike the one puppy!!! Ugh! 😫

Friday ....yay!

GOOOD MORNING from ME, Toby! I am up in the attic bedroom with my pal Asti (see her up on the bed?!). I’m laying at the top of the steps just hanging out. Just was thinking ... maybe one weekend soon  you will come meet me and then take me home! 

But... this weekend I’m just hanging out here with my new friends (Asti and Parson). Asti is teaching me all kinds of critter hunting skills. She leads me around tracking in the yard and I follow her... my foster mom calls her a ‘stinker’ but I think she smells ok! 

Wednesday...

Totally #adorbs

Today he showed me he loves belly rubs!!! ❤️ He would also love a house with a window to look out. What a sweetie!!! 

What I know (so far):

Here we are. Me and Toby. Here is "The Scoop"...

Cute : off the charts!!!!! A total doll!

Friendly: yes! He will bark at a stranger but gets over it quickly. He makes a grrrr sound if he is unsure of a sound. It’s no big deal.

Housetrained: zero potty accidents. Zero marking. Yes he pooped in the house on ‘husbands’ watch. Has been very good for me. So I guess just watch closely. He doesn’t tell you when he needs out but I just take him out when I think it’s time. 

Destructive: not at all. Helps himself to dog toys. 

Toys: bones, chewies, plastic squeakers seem to be favorites. 

Other dogs: super friendly. Likes to play chase. 

Kids: I don’t have any here. I would say as long as you told kids to just ignore him at first or throw him treats all would be fine. Toby is a bit unsure of some people until they are familiar. He may bark or act nervous (come close then back off).

Dog beds: he likes them. He likes the floor a lot and sits on furniture just a little. He’s mostly a floor dog! 

Walks: awesome. Always ready to put on his harness, stands totally still and is good to go!

Cars: loves to ride. Not afraid of cars on walks. 

Shedding: very little to none. 

Windows: loves to look outside and watch the yard. 

Food: not food aggressive ...I never bother a dog that’s eating. He hasn’t shown any sign of it though. Just crunches slowly at his meal. A nice paced eater. Never cares when my dogs walk by. 

Treats: takes them gently. 

Considered noisy: no. He is quiet. 

Energy level: low to medium

Sleeps: under our bed on my side. It’s adorable! In the morning he may jump up on the bed to play or snuggle after breakfast. 

Needy: no. He does follow me around the house but also follows my husband. He really likes people. He doesn’t freak out if we leave. 

Grooming: he stands nicely for brushing. Not sure how nail clipping would be. Might need a professional. I have not attempted.

Monday and rainy!!!

It is pouring rain outside and no let up in site!!! Yuck! Toby slept under the bed again last night and had his kibble breakfast and then did potties outside. He’s so damp from all the rain! He found the cozy dog basket in the kitchen to dry off in.

So Toby is doing AMAZING!!! This morning I decided to try a crate when I went to work. I picked him up and put him inside the one in my bedroom. I gave him a Kong with treats inside and peanut butter in there too. A bone to chomp and a toy. He was quiet. When I came back home (I work part time) so about 5 hours later... quiet. All was perfect. :)

Later I had to take my son to an appointment and I decided ‘not’ to crate Toby. All was well again. He has not barked at all today. Not at any of the guys. So basically it took a day and 1/2 for him to be comfy here. Hmpf. No biggie! He takes treats gently and is friendly to my family. He’s pretty awesome in my book!!!

Where does Toby sleep???

I had heard Toby wasn’t all that fond of crates so we just let Toby choose where to sleep! I led him upstairs with a leash into our room. We have a crate in our bedroom and we opened the door. We have a dog bed. We also have just the floor. 

Well, Toby chose his own path! He crawled "under" our bed and slept there all night! Here is a picture of him under there when it was morning and time to get up! Oh how CUTE!! 💓 I had to grab his leash and give a little tug-tug and called Toby’s name to get him out. Guess he was too comfy! Ha!!!

Also, this morning when my youngest son, Seth, came down from upstairs Toby did not bark! I feel like we are already making lots of progress. Yay!!!

Toby is kinda a plodder. He moves at his own pace. He doesn’t always come running when called. He def has a Pekingese tude!! Haha! Toby also has his preferences to what he likes. (So do we all!) I like to accommodate as long as it doesn’t destroy or bother anything or anyone. Sooooo.. from now on if Toby wants to sleep under the bed... he gets to!!! No more crates for Toby!!! 

Toby also went outside for potty. As always he plods around the yard and finally did what needed doing! It takes a little patience but not too bad. I sat out on the patio chair and waited. Then he came inside with my dogs and ate his yummy breakfast. He’s a good little dog! I’m very happy to have Toby with us!!!!

Later in the afternoon...

I left Toby out in the house when I left today. He seemed ok with it! Everything was in place when I returned home. Awesome!

Toby likes to be where I am when I’m home. He follows me. He sits under my chair or lays on the floor. We sat on the patio on this warm day for a bit and let the breezes blow.

He’s very long. Maybe has some Llasa Apso in him with that straight flowing hair and long body. His fur feels like thick hair. It’s awesome!!! 

He isn’t really barking much anymore. My oldest son (I have 3) stopped over for Father’s Day and although Toby initially barked at him after a few minutes he stopped and hasn’t barked at him since  (and my sons been here all afternoon). So, the little bit of barking I’ve seen is NOT a big deal. 

Mostly, Toby just needs some confidence and needs time to live in a home!!! He is a totally an awesome dog... very chill... very cute... and loves his mommy!!! 💓 Awwww!!! XXOO

Pretty Boy Toby Arrives!!!

I am smitten with this boy! He is quiet and chill. We went for a walk and he’s a prancer. He loves going bye bye in the car. 

Toby needs some confidence in meeting new people. He barks a little but if everyone just goes about their business so does he. After a little bit he is like.., oh... they are cool then so am I. He’s just a boy who needs to know you are a sweetie not a meanie!

Shivers is Adopted!

Excited to see Shivers find his family. We loved having him join us in Green Bay and wish him many happy tail wags in his new home!

Shivers is pretty mellow. He mostly hangs out calmly in the house. He has never ever tried to chew anything of mine. Yay!!! He has had zero potty accidents and never tried to mark. Yay again!!!

He is not needy or aloof. If I sit he jumps up and snuggles but otherwise just sprawls out on the floor where I’m working. My dogs are mid age (6 & 7) and kinda boring in the house so he does what they do and is not a pest. I think if he had a more playful dog friend he’d enjoy that too. When he feels like it he plays with toys or zooms around the yard. They all like to chase flying birds and watch for squirrels in the big tree. 

I really like Shivs and would easily give him an A+ rating or like zero rotten tomatoes!! He’s that awesome in my book. I love terriers so he’s my kinda pupster!

Good Doggy!

Just posting a photo with little Shivers and me. He had a great day!!! I never crated him when I left the house. Nothing was amiss upon return. He did all bathroom duties out in the yard. He chewed a raw hide with zero growls. He is happy and snuggly. He does like to give face kisses whether you want them or not! My dog Asti does the same! So I’m used to getting a sloppy tongue smackeroo from a dog!! 

Shivers is just really fun! I can’t tell you how he does in a crate because mine is in my car. Never even brought it in the house! 

I love watching Shivers play with toys. A total hoot!!! 

For tricks he knows sit and down (lay down). 

Outside he does bark at birds and squirrels a bit... he stops after a few minutes but just wanted to mention it. It is not bad but if you need a totally quiet dog well... he’s a terrier. He gets excited over critters and such! 

He follows me around the house and wants atttention but he’s not really overly needy. I think he would love a dog pal to play with and a squirrel watching friend would be top pick!

Meet Shivers: poodle and terrier mix!

Shivers was at a different foster home until today. Now he is in Green Bay and WOW... this boy is FABULOUS!!!

When we drove the 2 hours to Green Bay he was awesome in the car. He met my dogs and zoomed and played and ate supper. He also had a bath and face trim. Isn’t he cute sitting on the chair?!?

Saw a squirrel!! Lol!

Earlier in the day he met my sister at our family antique shop. He was "pup-ular" with everyone there! #loveatfirstsite

Reba is Adopted!
